why memorize multiplication tables?
Learning multiplication tables helps with quick math calculations. When we’re in a store and looking at something in a package, such as hamburger buns or eggs, we can quickly determine how many packages we need to feed a crowd. Sure, we could stand there and think “8, 16, 24…” or “12,24,36…” but we can more quickly think, “Okay, 50 people are coming, there are 8 buns in a bag, we’ll need 6 bags and will have 2 buns leftover.”
Since multiplication tables were drilled into me, I can multiply and divide simple math calculations quickly. Is it the same with you? That’s why I think it’s important to pass down the skill of memorizing multiplication tables.

how to learn to multiply ( or divide) numbers quickly
Memorizing the tables can involve flashcards and a bit of competition between the siblings, but it can also be as simple as filling in a multiplication chart once a week.
A bonus is that a student will also be learning how to divide quickly! It’s a handy skill to have.

I created two printables for you, one in booklet form and one in worksheet form.
IF YOU PREFER TO HAVE THE MULTIPLICATION CHARTS IN BOOKLET FORM, READY TO USE . . . .
I created a workbook full of 36 charts – one for each week in a typical school year. It’s just $8.50, and eligible for free Prime Shipping. That’s an inexpensive option if you’d prefer to have the multiplication charts already printed and ready to use.
The cover was created from the etchings of a mathematician from the 1500s, Hirschvogel. He wrote a book called Geometria. I made a workbook with a blue cover and white etchings and a workbook with a white cover and black etchings.

If you JuST WANT TO PRINT ONE OUT, HERE’s HOw:
If you’d like to download and print just the worksheet (free), fill out the form below. Doing so adds you to the email list for Freely Educate, where I send an email about twice a month. If you’re already on the list, a duplicate will not be created. I just have to request an email as authentication to keep the troublesome bots out of the download area of the site.
I hope you’re enjoying the journey of homeschooling!
