A FREE COLLEGE COURSE ON CIVIL RIGHTS IN AMERICAN HISTORY
Today, I want to tell you about a new course offered by Hillsdale College: Civil Rights in American History. The course includes 9 lectures that are an average of 30 minutes each. You can view the list of course lectures at the course page. You will need to register with an email address to view the course lectures.
Hillsdale College was founded in 1844 “to provide the education necessary to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty.” With that founding in mind, they offer several excellent courses for free. I’ve highlighted a few in the past.

LEARNING MORE ABOUT AMERICAN REVOLUTIONARY WAR HEROES
Another source on the same topic as lesson two, Civil Rights and American Founding: historian Tara Ross. Ms. Ross does painstaking research and links to all of her sources in her articles. Here are a few stories she has written about African-Americans who fought in the Revolutionary War:
- Peter Salem, former slave & Revolutionary War veteran
- Agrippa Hull, little-known American Patriot
- Salem Poor, former slave turned Revolutionary War fighter
