Free ACT and SAT Testing Prep & Practice Exams

Today, I did some research on free testing prep for our teenagers, and thought I would share what I found with you. It’s a bit difficult to locate free testing prep, but I did find some! I also found free practice exams for both the ACT and the SAT exams.

SAT EXAM: FREE sAT TEST Preparation

In our area, the SAT is not what is common, but if you’re in an area where it is, you’re one of the lucky ones since the SAT is taught by the popular Khan Academy. Khan Academy teamed up with the College Board to create a plan, 8 full length practice exams, and a lot of practices to work through.

See the SAT test preparation and practice exams here.

SAT EXAM: Take these FREE Practice SAT EXAMS

If you would like to get right to it to see how your student will do on the SAT, you can take an online practice exam or choose from ten practice tests to download, print, and take on paper. This is a good way to practice with a timer!

Here are the free SAT practice exams to download and print. There is also a free SAT practice exam to take online.

ACT EXAM: take a free ACT practice exam, FLASHCARDS, AND STUDY GUIDE

If the ACT exam is the one you are looking for, I found a few suggestions for us to look through.

You may take a practice exam in any of the four subject areas of the ACT (English, Mathematics, Reading, Science). Choose an area, and take the free ACT practice exam online or download and print the questions to practice with a timer.

Look through the free ACT study guide.

ACT EXAM: OFFICIAL STUDY GUIDE AND FREE ACT PRACTICE EXAM

ACT has come up with an ACT Academy that I have not yet gone through, but that says is personalized and free. It includes simulations and games.

Check out the free ACT Academy here.

ACT also offers a Free Practice ACT Test, which you may download as a 64-page pdf here. Want to get to it later? Go to this link and you’ll receive an email.

You can find other ACT practice exams here, from previous years.

WHY WOULD A HOMESCHOOLER TAKE THE ACT OR SAT EXAM?

We prefer learning naturally and creatively in our home, but as part of our desire to leave no doors closed, our children take the SAT or ACT exam before graduating our homeschool. The oldest two opted to take it again to improve their scores before entering college. Do let your student know that’s an option – they do not have to tell anyone their score, and they are very welcome to retake it.

Freely Educate is written for those, like our family, who don't want the box. There are many places for "box-thinkers" to go. This place is for those who think outside the box. I hope to give you affirmation and advice on bravely choosing to educate creatively and individually. - Lori Seaborg
