Some of you are about to begin homeschooling for the first time, and need a curriculum plan that’s already laid out for you! I have collected several free homeschool curriculum options for you. I will label them by grade range, but keep in mind that one of the benefits of homeschooling is that you may go at your child’s pace. If he needs to do what is labeled on the curriculum as “7th grade” when he is in 9th grade, so? You can teach it in 7th; he will not be behind. As I’ve mentioned before, we do not know everything there possibly is to know before we graduate.
One of the benefits of homeschooling is that your child may set the pace of learning.
Parents of multiple children often find it easier to teach some or all of the children together. In our home, the oldest were two years apart and learned together in some subjects. In other subjects, the eldest was quite a bit ahead (for example in math), so he learned on his own, while she read aloud to her younger siblings.
FREE HOMESCHOOL CURRICULUM FOR ALL GRADES, FROM KINDERGARTEN THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL
Our family’s favorite homeschool curriculum is one in the style of Charlotte Mason. One of the reasons we enjoy it so much is because we can often learn together. The curriculum is literature-based and is rich in classic books – so we have many delightful memories of reading over tea or simply piled up on the couch. There are full lesson plans and daily schedules for grades K-12.
TWO FREE HOMESCHOOLING CURRICULUM FOR PRESCHOOL
I used this free preschool reading curriculum for our little one, who is now in high school. I’m glad Letter of the Week is still around for you! See more here:
Another free preschool curriculum is here – it is based on the McGuffey Readers; first the children learn sight words and later phonics. This curriculum is faith-based.
FREE KINDERGARTEN CURRICULUM
I haven’t highlighted this Kindergarten curriculum here on Freely Educate yet, so I’ll send you straight to it. It was created by a homeschooling mom (the same one who is mentioned below, in the elementary curriculum section). Here’s her free Kindergarten curriculum.
Update: Here is another free curriculum for K-5th Grade
FREE PHONICS & READING CURRICULUM
I’m putting this in between Kindergarten and Elementary, but it’s up to you and your child as to when she will begin working on reading. New readers, or struggling readers, could work through this free online reading program. One of our children used Progressive Phonics, and though he’s not an avid reader – he just isn’t into books as much as his siblings – I rest easy know he can read anything he’d like even if he doesn’t choose to do so.
FREE ELEMENTARY & MIDDLE sCHOOL CURRICULUM
This free homeschool curriculum was created by a homeschooling mom for her own children. She has lesson spanning all grades; these are the free homeschool lessons for grades 1-8.
FREE HIGH SCHOOL HOMESCHOOL CURRICULUM
By the same homeschooling mom as above, this free high school homeschool curriculum contains full lesson plans and daily schedules.
Another option for high schoolers, this free high school curriculum focuses on college. It’s less structured than the curriculum above and below, but worth checking out.
