These college credit courses are free through July

by grade· college

21 Mar

Through July, your students can take college courses for credit which is transferable to a list of universities and colleges. Sophia offers courses regularly, but due to the current worldwide crisis, they’ve decided to offer some of their college courses for free until July 31, 2020.

which college courses are free?

The subjects offered free are:

  • Accounting
  • Business courses
  • English Composition
  • Public Speaking
  • Visual Communications
  • Philosophy
  • Art History
  • Religion Studies
  • Ethics
  • College Algebra
  • Environmental Science
  • Statistics
  • Biology
  • Information Technology (IT)
  • Psychology
  • Sociology
  • Economics
  • U.S. History
  • College Readiness

Go to this page at Sophia for the full list.

what do you get for taking a course?

To find out more, I clicked on U.S. History I as an example. Other courses may have different information, but here is what I found for the U.S. History I course:

  • upon completion, 3 semester credits are given
  • the credits are guaranteed to transfer to 19 institutions in the partner network, and have been successfully transferred to over 300 institutions
  • you have 60 days from your start date to complete the course
  • it’s 100% free (through July 2020)

how to get the free college courses

Visit Sophia for the list of free college courses. They’re free until July 31, 2020.

I heard of this offer through a homeschooling friend and wanted to pass it on, but I have not looked into it deeply and am not familiar with Sophia. So I’m passing this one on to you to do your own homework, and see if it’s a good fit for your family. I also passed it onto our college daughter to see if she could save on a class or two! Our daughter successfully transferred a completed Sofia course to her four-year university! It saved her $1,200 in what she would have paid her university for that course. Read the update here.

Hello! I’ve always wanted to learn a sign language but the fees is way more than what I can afford to pay and the courses too aren’t really flexible in my country. I am overjoyed to have found this website! I was wondering if international students are also eligible to attend these free courses?

Absolutely! Click on the link to go to the site that’s teaching the sign language classes (above), and begin right away. My daughter is also learning. 🙂
