Free Downloads: Ray’s Arithmetic for Middle & High School

I have a treat for those of you who love to use classical curriculum! Ray’s Arithmetic, a math curriculum, was created in the 19th century and used widely during its time.  It is still a very popular homeschool math curriculum today, and I’m so excited to have the downloads right here, for your convenience.

free Ray's Arithmetic downloads for middle and high school

I took copyright-free images of the original Ray’s Arithmetic math books and edited them with Adobe Acrobat, to remove marks and to straighten the pages (I didn’t alter the original text).

A bit about the ‘grade levels’: Don’t be picky about the ‘grade level’ I suggest below. They’re only guidelines.  As we homeschoolers know, children learn at different speeds and methods, so look through the curriculum and assign it to any grade you’d like.  I have often assigned ‘1st grade’ work to my ‘7th grader,’ and ‘high school’ reading to my ‘3rd grader.’ Don’t worry about labels such as grade levels; you know your child best!

Here are the free math curriculum downloads:

To view the files, simply click on them and they’ll open as .pdf documents (your system likely will just open it; if not, download the free reader program here).  View or print or share as you please — these works are in the public domain.

Need Ray’s Arithmetic for children for elementary grades?

I digitized three of the Ray’s Arithmetic books, perfect for your homeschool math curriculum, for Kindergarten through sixth grade.

Hi there. I LOVE this. Thank you so much for posting it. I did notice however that when I open Ray’s Higher Algebra it is actually the Answer Key to Higher Arithmetic.

I cannot yet find one for trig or geometry.

[…] Let me know if you’re looking for other Ray’s Arithmetic books for older grades; he wrote many more.   This set, elementary math curriculum, is his most popular set. UPDATE: Here are the Ray’s Arithmetic books for middle school and high school.  […]
