I’ve heard of KISS Grammar for several years, but haven’t highlighted it because although all of the content is 100% free, and there are no ads, the KISS site is rather clunky and confusing.   But, you know what?  You might enjoy browsing a website to search out the gems, and gems there apparently are, as this free grammar curriculum is often suggested as a Charlotte Mason grammar curriculum in homeschooling circles.

How to Get this free Charlotte Mason Grammar Curriculum

Free Charlotte Mason Grammar CurriculumSo, here you are:  free KISS Grammar Curriculum for homeschool (and schools!).

I used KISS for several years. You get the hang of navigating the site after practice. However, I switched to Easy Grammar that follows a similar pattern of teaching prepositions first. I’m very happy with it and the ease of use makes a world of difference with 4 students.

I’ve already been thinking about grammar choices for next school year for my daughter who will be in third grade. I’ll need to do some more research, but this does look interesting – and free is definitely a good price.

I love the way this curriculum looks–my only wish is that it was not based on fiction writing. Any suggestions for non-fiction grammar instruction? I am looking for very beginning levels–1st/2nd grade, though my student is reading at an 8th grade level, so reading level is not a problem. Any suggestions for something free, on-line?

I’ve been using the Kiss grammar, and I love it. My children have learned more in the pasted few weeks than all of last year. The workbooks are all fiction writing, but once you learn the concept, you can use any sentence. I have my children pick sentences out of whatever book they are reading and we go though and analyze it. My children are in 3rd, 6th, and 7th grade, but we started at level one and are just going to work through all of them.

Mindy, thanks for the tip on how to use this curriculum! I like knowing it can be customized to whatever the child is currently reading.

    Hi Lori’
my 12yr old uses grammar 101. The site can be used for free, but there are alot of adds. This doesn’t appear to bother him and he likes it, because he can do a lesson quickly. He also has grammar workbooks,so its good for checking where he is. It also gives you a score at the end which is good for encouragement.

Thank you for this reminder. I recall looking at the site in the past and was turned off by the look of it, but I think I can get past that now that grammar has moved up in priority for me in our homeschool.
