Here’s a readers’ favorite!
Have you ever heard of the Book of Virtues by former U.S. Secretary of Education, William Bennett? It was published in 1993, but is on its way to becoming a classic, probably because it is made up of classics. “A Treasury of Great Moral Stories,” the Book of Virtues contains stories written centuries ago, from Biblical stories to political speeches and many stories from literature.
Today’s free educational find isn’t the Book of Virtues. You’ll have to buy the book to go along with today’s freebie, which is a 992 page (!) ebook on The Book of Virtues that contains a daily schedule and many worksheets. The Book of Virtues Project, created by a homeschooling mom for her own children, is for those who would like to learn from the book as a unit study or lapbook project. Here are two screenshots from the free ebook:
How to Get the Free Unit Study:
To Download the Entire eBook: Look in the right sidebar, where you’ll see a link to download the entire ebook directly, all 18.93 mb of it – 992 pages! (I downloaded my copy safely this way).
To Download the eBook in Sections: Look in the right sidebar, where you may download the book in units, eg. Unit 1: Self Discipline
How to Get the Book of Virtues: As I mentioned above, the actual book needed to complete this unit study is not free (the 900+ page unit study is!). You could borrow it from your library for free. Or, you may purchase the Book of Virtues from Amazon and help FreelyHomeschool.com in the process, as we get about 4% of your purchase price (at no cost to you). At Amazon, the paperback is currently around $16 and the hardcover is currently just over $22. At over 800 pages, it’s a pretty good deal.

Patty, Thank YOU for your wonderful book!
I love this book and its project too. What a treasure it is!
What age range do you suggest the book and study work for?
You find and send out so many great things..this one is the biggest winner of all. This is so unbelievable that it is ours for FREE. From the bottom of my heart, thanks for all your time and effort.
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment, Kim! Thats encouraging. I can't believe it's free, too, and that someone took such time to write it!

THANK YOU so much for this… I have had this book on my shelf for years (purchased at goodwill) I look forward to doing this with my teens.
Kristin,
I created the study to be VERY flexible. There are things in there for Kindergarten all the way up to preparing for College (the activities literally help prepare for college). You just pick and choose what is appropriate to your child. And if you have some kids younger and some kids older, you can easily assign what you want each to do. It’s very flexible!!

I just love this so much I can’t wait to start! But…where do I find the lesson plans?
One might also want to check their local thrift stores for the book. I picked up a copy for $3 about a year ago at Salvation Army.
Awesome! I'd love to find a copy, too.
I hope it is ok to pin this….please let me know if it is not…at momsmustardseeds @ gmail dot com
