Free online planning system for homeschools: lesson planner, scheduler, transcript creator

There are many ways of keeping track of your homeschool.  I have tried several methods, and still prefer using a 3-ring binder and a pen.  Others prefer to use an online homeschooling planner, like Homeschool Skedtrack.

Homeschool Skedtrack is a schedule creator and tracker, especially useful for homeschooling teachers and private tutors.  It has been on the internet for a long time and has been used by many of our readers over the years.

Here is a description from the site owners:

Homeschool Skedtrack is a FREE online lesson planner, scheduler, and tracking system rolled into one. The heart of the system is the automated scheduling of activities that frees you from the headache of rescheduling everything once an activity/lesson is missed.

Here is a list of features:

  • easy record keeping from PK-12 for each student
  • worry free data back-up
  • access of your virtual school from anywhere around the world
  • flexible scheduling of your child’s activities/lessons per year, per month, per week or as you go
  • automated display of daily home school activities/lessons per course
  • automated display of daily home school activities/lessons per course
  • automated tracking of total number of hours/days completed
  • scheduling and tracking of field trips
  • scheduling vacations and declaring holidays
  • a school calendar for each student
  • a resource list per course
  • tests recording
  • automated grade calculation
  • report card generation in pdf format
  • transcript generation in pdf format

Visit Homeschool Skedtrack to see if this is a good fit for your homeschool.

If you have a suggestion of another planning system, please let us know in the comments!

I tried to register, but it says it won’t allow my E-MAIL address and to try another. Well, I don’t HAVE another 🙁 That’s ridiculous.

That's awesome! Thank you for offering to help her (and whoever has problems!) and for being so quick about it.
p.s. to everyone, I didn't get around to emailing HomeschoolSkedTrack yet…they must be on top of things over there!

LOVE the SkedTracker. I have next year all lined out and ready to go. Best feature – it moves items to the next day if you don’t get them done!
Be sure to check the import feature – lots of curriculum are already there and just need to be tweaked!

I started using this for the first time this summer and I LOVE it! The set up is time consuming, but well worth it. (Watch the videos-it does help!) No more Sunday night panic-planning and my son (12) also likes that he can see his schedule, including field trips, in advance. I like that if we don’t finish something it automatically shifts everything back a day. Printing out the completed activities is also a lot neater to keep for my records, instead of the annual notebooks I normally keep.

Thank you so much for that review, Pam. I should probably dust off my account and give it a try again!

At times, well-intentioned advice suggests that dedicating an entire day to homeschooling leaves no room for a job during regular hours. This is not necessarily so. My husband and I owned a garden center for a few years while also homeschooling. After that, I had an online business while homeschooling. We did not “only work … Read More about Balancing Homeschooling and Working From Home – a Realistic Approach
