Updated 9/1:
The bottom line: I’ll keep the RSS-to-Email feed up and running for those who prefer it. Stay subscribed to it if you prefer receiving every post in your email inbox. If you’d like a newsletter format less often, or you’d like to receive both, subscribe to my new newsletter.
The longer version: Readers have written me that they actually like the daily emails and don’t want them discontinued. I’ve decided to let you choose. Just unsubscribe if the daily emails are too much for you. One reader says she archives the daily posts in her inbox and when she needs a learning tool, she’ll search for it in her emails.
The new newsletter will be a separate email list and will not go out to the daily RSS subscribers. If you choose only one, choose the new newsletter, but do feel free to keep the old method as well.
Since 2008, I have had what’s called “RSS via email” enabled on my sites. This meant that every post was emailed to subscribers. In 2008, that was a nice thing. In 2016, daily emails are annoying. Though nobody has complained, I feel guilty cluttering your inbox with daily posts! And I’d love to send you something worth reading in your email box.
I’ve decided to work on something much more relevant and interesting: a weekly (or less) email newsletter. In the newsletter, I’ll include snippets of the week’s posts so you won’t miss them, and I’ll include any of the following: an article, my tips, readers’ ideas, links to your homeschooling sites, and exclusive deals from sponsors (sign up here)
The newsletter will not be spammy, your email address will not be shared, and I will not send it more often than weekly.
Instead of importing subscribers, I’m going to let you decide if you want to subscribe to the new list (I hope you do!)
Don’t feel like clicking on the form? Send me an email and I’ll manually subscribe you.
Want to decide later? That’s fine! I’ll always have a Subscribe button on the bottom right sidebar and under every post.
Thank you so much for sharing that, Laura!
