Easter is coming on March 31st, and while most kids would enjoy yellow sugary chicks and chocolate Easter bunnies in the Easter basket, they would also enjoy a healthier option: toys! We parents have heard so many warnings about giving our children too much sugar. It’s not only about the health of their teeth, but about their overall health.
Mattel has created a fun “Save the Chocolate Bunny” campaign to promote “toys instead of chocolate” to encourage creative, healthy, sugar-free play for kids!
How You Can Help Save the Chocolate Bunny (& Get Coupons!)
Visit Mattel’s Save the Bunny website, where you’ll find more giveaways and coupons for Hot Wheels, Barbie, Fisher Price, and Thomas the Train.
Win the Ultimate Easter Basket! (and come back to FreelyEducate.com on Friday, when I’ll post a giveaway just for our readers).

What a great gimmick–not bad for the coffers of Mattel either! Guess the rest of the world is finally catching up to what my family has done for years (not to save the chocolate bunny however). Thank you for the info on the give away.
Not sure I need another occasion to feed consumerism in my children. We make homemade treats that are healthier than the store bought ones.
Yeah, I’m not sure kids need a big bucket of toys for Easter either. 🙂 My kids’ favorite part of Easter has always been dyeing eggs at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. We use lots of rubber bands, white crayons and other objects to help make them very creative and then Grandma gives decorated eggs to all of the family members. My kids are always proud of the ones they did and we take lots of pictures of them. We do have an easter egg hunt in the morning of plastic eggs filled with small treats (a quarter, an allergy-friendly candy, etc.) but it’s pretty small scale. The big kids help the little kids find the eggs and it’s sweet fun.
If you don’t need the toys and do win them you and your children can donate them to someone else or a charity.
It’s a good thing.
Thank you for the chance
Nice. This is truly better. Thanks for the giveaway.
Thank you the giveaway.
My mom always had toys in our baskets, too. I’m usually of the much more last-minute-lame basket. This year I’m going to do better! Thanks for dropping by, Rhoda!
Homemade treats sound best of all!
The egg hunt is the biggest feature at my parents’ home, and our children miss it so much now that they’ve moved away. Using rubber bands and white crayons is brilliant! Thanks for the tip, Alicia!
Such a beautiful idea, Aislinn. The toys would be so welcome to many children.
You’re welcome, D. Thanks for coming by!
I think so, too. Thank you for entering, RG!
Thanks for coming by, Kerry. I hope you win!
I love the idea of less sugar. Easter is not about the candy, or toys for that matter. It is entirely about Jesus’ death and resurrection. We really try to focus on this. But my boys would love the cars!
Thanks for the giveaway.
