One of my favorite publishing companies has offered to kick off our FreelyEducate.com Giveaway Week!  Salem Ridge Press wants to give away their The Emma Leslie Early Church History Set to one of you! (value: $87.70)

Earlychurchset on white
The set includes these six historical fiction books:

  • Glaucia the Greek Slave: A Tale of Athens in the First Century
  • The Captives: Or, Escape from the Druid Council
  • Out of the Mouth of the Lion: Or, The Church in the Catacombs
  • Sowing Beside All Waters: A Tale of the World in the Church
  • From Bondage to Freedom: A Tale of the Times of Mohammed
  • The Martyr’s Victory: A Story of Danish England

Salem Ridge Press is a tiny family-run publishing company “dedicated to bringing back quality children’s books of the 1800’s and early 1900’s for a new generation of readers.”  We have read three of their books as a family:  Mary Jane (Her Book), Glaucia the Greek Slave, and The White Seneca. They are still, several years after first reading them, three of our favorite books.

My favorite thing about Salem Ridge Press is that I can trust them.  They are so thorough in their review process, that they publish only those books with the highest moral and literary qualities. I know two things when I order a Salem Ridge Press book:  It is a book that is okay for the kids to read, and they’ll enjoy reading it.

The White Seneca salem ridge publishing The complete Salem Ridge Press listing contains, if I counted correctly, 29 books.  You may view the list by time period, age group, alphabetically, or by author.

Do you want the six-book set?

DD LOVES historical fiction. It becomes a catalyst for her to discover more about that period in time. I read reviews, do searches and ask others opinions to find the books I want for my children. Then, I read them myself to ensure they promote the values I want to instill in them.

What a wonderful giveaway – We often rely on the library for historical fiction. They often have great options but might only have a few titles from any one publisher/author. So when we find one we like at the library we are better able to pursue others like it online or with interlibrary loan or to puchase.
