UPDATE: The winner that Random.org chose is Comment #146, Jane!

I actually have an early version of Friendly Chemistry, but would love an updated one. It is such a nonthreatening way to experience Chemistry. My 14 year old who struggles with school, but enjoys science is doing well and my 17 year old, who is a very bright young man with Aspergers who greatly dislikes science, is also doing well. We were all in stitches playing one of the games yesterday.
Friendly Chemistry has recently edited & updated their curriculum. To celebrate, they want to send a full curriculum set to one of you!
After looking through a Friendly Chemistry textbook, you’ll soon realize that, hmm, chemistry is a little more interesting than you first thought. Give it a longer look and you’ll find yourself surprisingly absorbed in elements and molecules. Then…gather some students, teach a Friendly Chemistry lesson and you’ll see that chemistry is not only fun, but the kids are asking to have another chemistry class!
The author, Joey Hajda, describes Friendly Chemistry like this:
“Friendly Chemistry was written using simple language and a host of analogies to make learning (and teaching!) chemistry easy. We believe that the chemistry concepts presented in Friendly Chemistry are NOT watered-down. The concepts are just explained in ways that are readily understood by most learners. Coupled with these explanations is a host of teaching aids, labs and games which makes the learning concrete and multi-sensory. Students find the course fun and painless. Parents often comment, ‘I wish I had had this when I was taking chemistry. Now it all makes so much sense!'”
How to Learn More: Visit the Friendly Chemistry site for answers to questions about teaching the program in your homeschool or co-op or for answers to using the program in private or public schools.
Guess what? The publishers want to offer one of you a free set of Friendly Chemistry curriculum, which includes:
- Student text
- Teacher text (volumes 1 & 2)
- Manipulative text (a 74 page booklet to be disassembled by the end user)
Current retail cost is $49.99 for the student edition and $24.99 for each volume of the Teacher’s edition (Two volume set). The manipulative set retails for $9.99. Total retail value: $109.96

Looks really interesting . . .
I’m actually scared to teach science! It was a very intimidating subject for me in school, and my teachers at the time were very smart, but not great teachers. I would love this as much for my child as for myself… maybe I could finally fall in love with science!
I blogged about your giveaway.

I have a hearing disabled son who has taken a chemistry class thru a co-op. He was so frustrated with the experience- and had a rough time with concepts, the text and figuring out equations. Before college, I’d love for him to get a shot at reviewing chemistry in a more satisfying way. We’d love to win Friendly Chemistry!

We would love to win this one! I looked at it in depth earlier this year but as we live in a semi 3rd world country with a weak currency against the dollar, it’s just not possible to stretch the budget to obtain it. My youngest loves chemistry – she has all sorts of pretend potions and bottles with coloured water and a microscope permanently on her desk, and she asked for a scientist’s white coat for Christmas! Please please please, choose us to win this wonderful, wonderful gift – it would be so appreciated.
This looks like a great set! Thank you for this giveaway!
My daughter would love this!
Me, me, me!!! I wanna win. I’m so not a science teacher but finding myself more and more intrigued.

We love chemistry but haven’t found a curriculum that we love! I hope we win!
My kids would love this. They all enjoy science and Chem is looming for my teen. I don’t enjoy science, so that’s my biggest hangup with the subject. It’s hard to muster enthusiasm.
Friendly Chemistry sounds friendly to the non-chemistry friendly family!
I would love to win! We’re a liberal arts family and could use all the science help we can get!

I visited Friendly Chemistry and liked their page
I would love to win this. My son is just at the beginning of interest in Chemistry, and it’s time to find something structured and take off with it in a very hands-on way!
What frustrates me the most about teaching science is that I don’t understand it, even at the most basic level, and don’t enjoy it (probably because I don’t understand it). My public school education failed me here and I don’t want to pass that down to my own children!
I went to their Facebook page, “Like”d them, and left a comment.

My kids love Science. I would love to win this!
I’m always on the lookout for an easy, reliable science text that is well-put-together and enjoyable for my children and myself. Plus, I find chemistry fascinating and would love to learn more along with my kiddos.
Sounds like a winner of a chemistry set! I have a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old who need to do chemistry in the next year. What a great way to teach them. Plus, being a fisheries-biologist-before-I-became-a-homeschool-mom makes me have at least a passing fancy in chemistry.
I tweeted.
Just commented on their Facebook wall…and it’s funny. Here they are, a chemistry-curriculum-making company and they’re from Broken Bow, Nebraska. In 1982, I went on a three-week-long science field trip originating from Broken Bow (it’s meant to be…)
My daughter and I have been researching Chemistry curriculum and this sounds perfect! We would love the opportunity to use Friendly Chemistry!

I want to win! I could use some direction in science teaching!!
Entry for Chemistry set. Thanks for the week of giveaway contests.
I visited the Friendly Chemistry FB page and “liked” it. Thanks!
Visited “Friendly Chemistry’ facebook. 🙂
I would love to win! My son is very interested in chemistry but that is not a subject I know very well.
I get frustrated when I realize that I just do not have the resources to use for science. I know that my kids would love more hands on science, but it all seems so expensive when you start gathering all the materials you need to put a lesson together. Also, the planning is just more time than I have right now with all the other subjects.
Please enter me in the giveaway. Always looking for something good to do for Science.
Blessings
Diane
Would love to win this Chemistry set! Thanks for the offer!!
I’m frustrated by labs that don’t work and science programs that are either overly-simplified or way too difficult to interpret without a degree in science! I’d love to give Friendly Chemistry a try.
Chemistry is a major hit at our house! Please send this kit our way! Thanks…
My son is all about science. Too bad his mom isn’t a natural. I can use all the help I can get. Would love this set.

We would love to win this! Thanks so much for the giveaway!
I checked them out on FB too and see they are available on Amazon so I’ll check it out over there.
Hi Lori, even though I’ve loved chemistry, I didn’t always do that well at teaching it. My oldest son, an engineer now, struggled with chemistry in college and ended up not liking it much. If I could help the rest of the boys enjoy it more, that would be awesome!! Thanks for the giveaway.
I would love to win this set. I need science curriculum that is hands-on and in-depth because my kids want to know everything about a subject.
In high school, I hated chemistry, but College profs helped me find the joy in it. I want to impart my love of Chem to my children now, and I know this curriculum would help. I don’t really struggle with teaching science to my children yet, but I know access to chemicals and other materials will get to be a challenge as they progress.
I already visited the FB page, and I’m on my way to tweet as NatureNutty

This sounds like a great curriculum. I didn’t understand chemistry in high school.
I would love to win this for my school!
I visited friendly chemistry’s facebook page.
This would be great to have for next year’s foray into Chemistry! What do I hate about teaching science? Mostly gathering the stuff for experiments – it always seems like there’s one random ingredient/item that is lost or missing or hard to find or whatever.
Thanks for the chance to win this fabulous product! I’m planning on using it next year in our homeschool!

Thank you for the tremendous giveaway!
Count us in please!
My son loves Chemistry and has been asking for one for sometime now…This would be such a great surprise for him
Well I get frustrated because I believe all things can be taught with the correct sequence and with the correct language. Science books often assume you know things and they also dont begin at the beginning. They could use simpler techniques and many students would really flourish.

I would love to win this set . My kids are very curious and they love hands on experiences. They would be delighted with it.

My husband and I both love science but our son is fast outstripping what we can teach – especially chemistry. This would be so wonderful to have; and both our 7 year old and our budding 5 year old scientist would get years of use out of the information! Woot!
I love this so much, I posted on your Facebook page, too.

On my blog now as well, which serves the gifted, FASD, ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, and SPD (all in one child) communities of homeschooled kids! Phew!
I hit the Facebook posting too-
I have difficulty with teaching science because my son LOVES it soooo much. Since it is his favorite, I feel super extra pressure to make sure that it is the best thing we do all day. It requires a lot of prep time and often a lot of materials to make a lesson meaningful. Anyone can mix ingredients but understanding what and why is a bigger task.
At breakfast last week, my budding chemist told the server that he’d like” citric acid and sucrose” to drink- indicating lemonade. How do I keep up with that?? 🙂
It’s so hard to teach chemistry to a kid who understands so much more than he can explain. I would love to give him more tools and kits to explore with.
Ps. I visited FB too. 🙂
We would love this set!!! I have been working to find a fun way to teach science to my son. Thank you for offering it.

I really want to win this giveaway. The only thing I find frustrating about teaching science is the need for buying supplies and equipment and finding places to store them all.
I love science but wish I had a more streamlined curriculum as I worry I might be missing some things and I don’t want there to wholes in my children’s educations. I would love to win this for me, for them.

I would love to win! I’ve never been able to afford all the science things my kids want. My oldest is almost old enough for a formal chem course–he would be thrilled to have something like this.
My son learns in a different manner than my daughter or I, and I am always looking for curriculum that would fit him.
We want to win too! We’re ready for high school science and want to get started!
I’d love this! I’m teaching Biology now, but I’m much weaker in Chemistry for next year. This looks like it could really help!

Still looking for a well-written, comprehensive chemistry curriculum!

My son needs to take Chemistry and I want to overcome my fear of it! God has been good to help me overcome my fear of Algebra and even become really good at it. I am hoping He will do the same with Friendly Chemistry. We would love to win!

Hooray for Chemistry!
I would love to win thisa! Science is NOT my best subject, but what i hate most about it would HAVE to be memorizing the Table of Elements… ugh!! LOL
My son loves science!
Oh man, would LOVE to win!!! Both my daughters (and I) are in love with science… can’t get enough. I think they’d both FLIP over us winning this! 🙂

My kids are currently interested in chemistry – we’d be so excited to explore Friendly Chemistry!
I enjoy teaching it but not all kids get it. To be able to put it more plainly for someone would be great for me.
Lastly, i tweeted about the giveaway! @SummerWHP!
Love anything that makes learning more fun, plus winning things is always fun, too!
Wow. We would love to have this set!! I think it would be so fun!! (I’ve never used that word with chemistry!)
I would love to win this set! Teaching science is always difficult as we never have the things on hand for experiments or can’t afford all the kits required. Its very frustrating for me as I thoroughly enjoyed biology and Chemistry in particular.
I went to their website and thanked them! Thank you also!
I thought I signed up for this, but I don’t see me here. Please sign me up.
I would love to win this. I have a fairly decent science background, but many of the science choices out there for homeschoolers aren’t that great. I feel like I am constantly having to piece things together for them. It would be great to have everything put together in a nice format with manipulatives that they could use.
I went to facebook and liked their page and left a comment there too.
My student is struggling with chemistry. This might be the solution.
I like the site on FaceBook and commented there as well.
I want to win this give away!
Would love to win – looking for something to spark the imagination of my un-scientific, but very creative, high-schooler!
