The much anticipated All About Reading Level 1 program is now in stock, so we get to giveaway an entire set to one of you! One Freely Educate reader will receive all of the Level One All About Reading curriculum (value $157):

Aasgiveaway
AasgiveawayWow, right?  Here is a bit more about the program from All About Learning Press, the publishers:

Your child will be actively involved in the learning process. This is a true multisensory program: your child will learn through sight, sound, and touch.

There are no gaps in this program. Your child will be taught everything he or she needs to know about reading. Each new concept builds upon the previous one.

There are five key components of reading—and our program teaches all of them thoroughly. Those components are:

  • Phonological Awareness
  • Phonics and Decoding
  • Fluency
  • Vocabulary
  • Comprehension

There is also a one year money back guarantee.

Personal Experience:  Earlier this year, we received the All About Reading pre-1 kit.  The quality is outstanding.  We have a “slow” (who says?) eight-year-old reader.  We worked through the pre-1 level quickly, as it’s written more for preschoolers, and now I’m going to work through the Level 1 curriculum with her.  This program is so much like All About Spelling that it is very easy for me to use.  The workbook is easy to follow, telling me exactly which letter tile to place in front of my daughter and exactly which sound to make.  It  couldn’t be easier for me, the teacher, and our daughter doesn’t complain about lessons (she especially loves to move the magnetic letter tiles)!

How to Learn More:  Visit All About Learning Press to learn more about the program.  Starting tomorrow through Tuesday, December 6, they’ll have their official launch with 10% off plus a $10 gift for all orders placed that week.  If you want to buy it while it’s on sale, but you’re worried you might win our giveaway, no problem:   if you win, you’ll get your money refunded!

Cobweb the Cat

 The Deluxe Reading Interactive Kit:

Reading Review Box
Reading Tote Bag
Star Stickers
All of that will be sent to one of you, shipped free, of course!  (value: $157)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mandatory Entry:  Just leave a comment, below.  Let us know what is frightening or frustrating about teaching reading.  Or, give us a tip on how to teach a child to read.  Say anything you like!
Additional Entries: You’ll receive an additional entry for any or each of these.  Remember to comment separately per entry.
  1. First, did you just simply comment?  That’s the mandatory entry.  Do that first.  Then, choose any or all of these:
That’s 4 ways enter!  Remember, leave a comment  for each entry method.
Entries are open to U.S. and Canadian addresses. Random.org will select the winner.  The winning entry will be verified.  The winner will receive a refund if the item was purchased by the winner before entry deadline.  Entry deadline: Friday, December 2, at noon CST.
 I hope you win!
    I’ve always loved reading and I know that early reading skills can really help create a real love for reading. With all the “tricks” in the English language, I can’t help but feel a little overwhelmed in teaching my youngest!
    The frustrating part about teaching reading is that each of my children are so different. I would love to try this program with my struggling reader. I’ve had two others who picked up reading almost effortlessly.
  45. Teresa Hoffman Johnson says
    November 28, 2011 at 4:46 PM
    My daughter started reading very early, but she never liked it. She is perfectionist, and anything she feels she can’t do perfectly, she doesn’t even want to do. So, I needed to build up her confidence. I let her go to the library and pick out what I called “short chapter books”. The Easy Reader level 3 type books. They weren’t too babyish for her (actually there were some pretty interesting stories in those!)but they weren’t so hard that she couldn’t read them quickly. By the end of the summer she was confident enough to read longer chapter books and most important, she was enjoying them!
    I am an avid reader, but have struggled to instill the love of reading in any of my children. My husband is NOT a reader (he is capable, but does not enjoy it), so it does not completely surprise me, but I expected at least 1 to enjoy reading more than they do.
  54. Augusta Arwood says
    What frightens me about teaching my child to read is what if I fail. I know that a good foundation in reading is essential for success in life. I constantly worry about what if I lack the skills to teach this skill to my children.
I promise to really get one of my girls (7 yrs old) reading better after a girl told her…”You can’t come in my room unless you can read”…my heart sank. She can read, just not as well as some other kiddos. There is the goal and the fire under my butt to really work with her and get her reading!! My second son is coming right up behind him and once again really struggling 🙁 I’m really hoping it’s not as hard on him as it was his brother. This looks awesome thank you for the chance.
    Even though you know that your child will eventually end up reading, it’s like holding your breathe until they “get” it. Then you exhale:) It is also hard if you have that “slow” (who says) reader, because their friends sometimes are reading and they may feel pressure that you don’t want them to feel.
    My best tips on teaching a child to read are…
    1. Make it fun for the child.
    2. Encouragement goes a long way towards developing a childs love of reading.
    3. Read to your child their favorite books. We read the same books fairly often. My 2 year old now can recognize about 60 words from his favorite books.
    4. Go to Utube and type in abc’s or alphabet. They have thousands’s of fun videos.
    5. Magnadoodle is a great toy to practice writing their alphabet.
