Our family enjoys an embarrassing number of family movie nights at home. The kids know they can talk dad into starting a movie as long as they don’t tell him what time it is first. After the movie is over, he’s always quite shocked that we stayed up so late…again.
We like many movies, but our Favorite Movie Ever is…
…The Princess Bride!
This movie is quoted more than any other in our house.
“Farm boy, fetch me that pitcher?” I occasionally ask my husband, but it doesn’t work as well for me as it did for Princess Buttercup. If he doesn’t respond well (“as you wish”), I might yell, “I’m not a witch! I’m your wife!”
“Stop saying that!” is the most popular quote, used as an answer to “Inconceivable!” (or my sass) but more often as a response to an annoying brother.
And mom & dad’s response to “that’s not fair!” is always, “Life’s not fair, Highness. Anyone who says otherwise is selling something.” (which I think is a paraphrase, but don’t tell the kids).
So, guess what’s not inconceivable?
