Friendly Chemistry has recently edited & updated their curriculum. To celebrate, they want to send a full curriculum set to one of you!
After looking through a Friendly Chemistry textbook, you’ll soon realize that, hmm, chemistry is a little more interesting than you first thought. Give it a longer look and you’ll find yourself surprisingly absorbed in elements and molecules. Then…gather some students, teach a Friendly Chemistry lesson and you’ll see that chemistry is not only fun, but the kids are asking to have another chemistry class!
The author, Joey Hajda, describes Friendly Chemistry like this:
“Friendly Chemistry was written using simple language and a host of analogies to make learning (and teaching!) chemistry easy. We believe that the chemistry concepts presented in Friendly Chemistry are NOT watered-down. The concepts are just explained in ways that are readily understood by most learners. Coupled with these explanations is a host of teaching aids, labs and games which makes the learning concrete and multi-sensory. Students find the course fun and painless. Parents often comment, ‘I wish I had had this when I was taking chemistry. Now it all makes so much sense!'”
Visit the Friendly Chemistry site for answers to questions about teaching the program in your homeschool or co-op or for answers to using the program in private or public schools.
Guess what? The publishers want to offer one of you a free set of Friendly Chemistry curriculum, which includes:
- Student text
- Teacher text
- Manipulative text (a 74 page booklet to be disassembled by the end user)
Current retail cost is $49.99 for the student edition and $24.99 for each volume of the Teacher’s edition (Two volume set). The manipulative set retails for $9.99. Total retail value: $109.96

What frustrates me most is how hard it is to by lab type equipment here at reasonable cost!
I would absolutely love to have this. I’ve been looking at it a lot lately and wondering/thinking it is the right program for us. I’m pretty much scared of teaching science.
I like Friendly Chemistry on FB 🙂 (North Laurel- that’s me!)
I don’t like when my son works hard on an experiment and it doesn’t come out as directed! That’s frustrating for him and kills his enjoyment of science.
I find it difficult to purchase lab supplies needed.
I liked Friendly Chemistry on facebook.
This sounds like it makes chemistry fun! Both my kids and I would really like to win this.
It’s difficult for me to teach science because I wasn’t very good at it in high school – and I’m gifted with a son who’s beyond me in science 😉 I’m enjoying learning it along with him now. This set would be a blessing for us!

I find it difficult to teach science because it is not an easy subject for me. I love this because it makes science more fun and easier to understand for children and moms.

This sounds like a good program. PLease count me in for the draw! Thanks.
I “like” Friendly Chemistry on Facebook.
My Children LOVE Science and have been asking to do Chemistry for the last two years. I have stuck with the subjects I feel confident teaching–human anatomy, botany, and even astronamy. I have tried googling different ways to teach chemistry and always feel overwhelmed and perplexed. I would love a program that I can confidently teach my children something they really want to learn.

I’d LOVE to win this. 🙂 My main issue is that some things just do not turn out how they are supposed to. And I would like something that has easy to find materials. Thanks!!

Finding supplies for experiments is usually most frustrating for me, too.

My kids love science. I love science and I love teaching it- but I get so caught up that I loose track of time and neglect the other subjects. Chemistry, though, is hard for us because we are not math people. We’d like another run at chemistry.
I just liked F.C. on FB!

I liked the Friendly Chemistry fb page! 🙂
Egad! But I am not a chemist. Science does not come easily to me. Thanks for the chance!
I love science! And, with 5 boys, chemistry is the favorite subject! Anytime fire, chemicals or explosions are involved, I have their full attention!
I’d love to win this set – chemistry is awesome!
I would love this for my soon to be in high school daughter.
It’s on the blog! crossyourbeavers.blogspot.com
The Friendly Chemistry curriculum is just what our school is looking for!
I liked ’em on FB.
Would Love to win this so I don’t have to think about it so much. science is hard when you live 30 min away from any town to get supplies last minute.
Love the looks of this. I enjoy Chemistry and would love to have some support in sharing it with my kids so that they come to love it too 🙂

Would love it, thanks for the chance to win it.
Wow, we could use a Chemistry curriculum that is easy to understand…Thanks for the offer…
I get frustrated by the amount of prep time it takes me to teach a decent science lesson. It’s just not a subject I’m comfortable with, so there’s a huge learning curve for me before I can teach it.
I would love to win this! Thanks for offering it.
Would be thrilled to win this~
It is very hard to find to keep the kids attention without a good foundation. I would love to win this so the kids could stay focused.
I liked Friendly Chemistry on Facebook.
My kids are fascinated by science in general, chemistry in particular. We’d love a new way to learn chemistry!
I would love to win this giveaway. Good luch for all!
i never took chemistry in high school bc it wasn’t a requirement in my state. so i’m a bit worried about teaching it & i plan to learn along with my daughter. looks like a good curriculum for that! 🙂
I “liked” Friendly Chemistry on Facebook!
i liked friendly chemistry on FB…
What frustrates me is having to run around everywhere finding the supplies. I like having the lesson plans laid out for me.
I desperately want this program for my high school daughter. Chemistry is a required high school subject for college-bound homeschoolers in our state, and my not-terribly-science minded, math-challenged daughter was dreading it! When we investigated this program, it looked PERFECT – for both of us. And our homeschooling compliance organization approved it! 😉
Anything that makes science fun is a winner!!!!!! Science is just so detailed and involved – it is hard to teach in a fun way and on your kids’ level. Love anything that makes it easier!!!

I would love a free set of Friendly Chemistry. Science concepts are sometimes difficult to explain and this sounds like a great resource.
Thanks for this giveaway! Looks like a great set!
We have a 3rd grader who adores Chemistry. Already working our way through all the Chemistry books in the Kids’ Dept at the library. This sounds like something we could to next; concepts without the frustration of trying to purchase lab equipment.
I would love to win this. My high schooler will be taking Chemistry next year, and I am at a loss of how to teach her.
I would love to try this chemistry curriculum with my children. It sounds wonderful!
I went to Facebook and now “Like” Friendly Chemistry.
I’d love to win, thanks for the opportunity.;0)
What frustrates me about science is finding a teacher book that helps me understand the science well enough that I can explain the concept. I prefer not reading the script when teaching my daughter.
While we have not yet explored the realm of chemistry, this program looks to be a good fit for our family. Thanks for the chance to win!
Buying good quality supplies is so difficult–teaching science is fun, finding reasonably priced supplies is not!

My boys would love to try a different way of what we have been doing for chemistry.
I “liked” Friendly Chemistry on Facebook.
My daughter loves science but we need to become more organized as we don’t follow a curriculum. These books and the manipulative book sounds like just what we need. We have done quite a few experiments but many don’t work and that is disappointing. Also, some of the labs we have followed called for “common household materials” of which we had few or even none. The lab materials listed for Friendly Chemistry is a better match for us.
Can’t “like” it today – already did that a while back:o)
I would like to enter this giveaway! Thanks!
oh…….. i really wish i could win this! i’m very poor in chemistry during my high school. This book will definitely benefit myself and my children in chemistry!!
Chemistry is the only subject I have never really understood. I’d love to win Friendly Chemistry so my children won’t say that!

Science is so frustrating for me! I’m not scientifically minded and I have one child that hates hands-on things. So when I do a science experiment and it doesn’t work properly that just compounds the problem!
I think what frustrates me is that a lot of Science books tend to be dry and clinical sounding and we all lose interest. I am glad to hear of a “friendly” Chemistry textbook.
I’d like to win this giveaway. My son loves science, but sometimes it can be a pain and an expense to find and purchase the items needed to do an experiment.

I’d like to win this giveaway. I think this is one curriculum we would get through without getting frustrated. Friendly Chemistry is what I need for my son next year!
It took a very frustrating 2 years for my oldest to finish Chemistry mostly because the teacher’s material didn’t explain things any more than the student text and one cannot teach what they themselves do not know. I must have a better Chemistry curriculum for my other two children. We would love to give Friendly Chemistry a try!

I would love to win the giveaway Friendly Chemistry! My children love science and it was never my thing. I am very frustrated with the experiments we have tried, sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t. Thank you for the opportunity to win.

I would love to experience a chemistry curriculum that gives great explanations with proven experiments. We follow so many experiments’ directions, only to have them fail and it’s very disappointing. I would love to have this set and be able to teach a solid chemistry course to my son that doesn’t “dumb down” the facts.
This is just what we need for next year. I’d like to win this giveaway!

Friendly Chemistry – isn’t that an oxymoron.:) Anything to make chemistry better for my family would be appreciated. We’d love to have it!
What is frustrating to me…I love science but I find it hard to teach it. I’d like to win this giveaway to help my son love science as much as I do!

I find it difficult to teach Chemestry. I would love something like this. It would be great to win.
It’s a challenge to teach any science to a child because most books aren’t engaging enough. I would love to win this curriculum.

What frustrating about teaching science is the language used in the books. We try so hard to understand but it takes sooo much time. We have looked at this set and would love to have it!!! Looks like something we can do.
I’d love to win this!
What stops me in teaching science are the labs. I can just never seem to do an adequate job with the labs. Next year I’m going to try a co-op.
I liked Friendly chemistry on Facebook.
I blogged it http://praiseworthythings.blogspot.com/2011/05/friendly-chemistry-giveaway.html
I would LOVE to receive this Friendly Chemistry set. What frustrates me about teaching science is how difficult it is balance “hands on” with feeling like we are really doing Science. I try to take a science experience and expand upon it to cement it in his mind, but I see his eyes glass over — he just wants to have fun with science; he doesn’t want to (know he is) learn(ing). Would love to have this set.
My boys love science and I’ve been looking for a program that will keep them engaged as they tackle Chemistry. I’d love to win this!

I would love to win this for my classroom. It is hard to find science activities that are fun for the students.
Winning this kit would bring my stress levels waaay down!
I want to win this! My son (who I will begin homeschooling next year) would absolutely love this. He’s a self-motivated learner that loves science and math.
This sounds like a great program.
I would love to win this! Friendly Chemistry is on our list for this upcoming year!!!
I would love to have this resource. I just taught a chem lab for co-op and it was difficult to find inexpensive resources.
I like Friendly Chemistry on FB. What frustrates me is finding something that explains the math side of things clearly! I never took upper level sciences, so I’m learning along with my kids and we ALL need it to be easy to understand/clearly explained!
I liked it on Facebook.
This sounds like a great program.
Oh, science. It is the most difficult for us around here. It seems that any demonstration or experiment I try it fails. I try to make the best out of the failures and turn the failure into the lesson, but it gets frustrating and old if very little works out. We have been researching Friendly Chemistry for a while and we would so love to get this free! Thanks for the chance!
I am also a friend of Friendly Chemistry on Facebook!
I recently began Homeschooling and am looking for any help I can get when it come to supplies.
I liked Friendly Chemistry on Facebook!!
Hi! I’d love to win this. My son wants to do Chemistry but he’s only in 5th grade and it seems sooooo hard. My DD will be doing chem next year for 10th grade and if we could all do it together that would be great!
I just came across this curriculum yesterday. The title makes it sound like something doable. I would love to teach chemistry to my kids but the chemistry books are usually at a high school level which makes it harder to understand (even for me as teacher). I would love to be able to try this out. It might even be great for our co-op.
I liked friendly chemistry on facebook for a 2nd entry. Yay!
This would be great! I have one entering high school next year!

I liked Friendly Science on facebook.
I’d like it ;D
But it’s impossible for me to win… I don’t blog, don’t facebook, and don’t tweet…
I am very concerned that my daughter, who struggles with math, will hate science. I love the title of this program – Friendly Chemistry. That alone is worth giving it a good look see.
I love science and love teaching science to our co-op and to my students at home. I get frustrated when the curriculums are either frustrating to the parents or not clear in the material. I love when the curriculum is not only clear for the teacher with challenges for the students but, does not frustrate the parent whom we work alongside.
P.s. I would love to win this give away!!!!
I really would like this set. We love chemistry and would love to try this!
Have never taught chemistry yet so we have no idea what we are doing. This looks like it would help us out a lot
I’d love to win this. I’ve been very interested in using it.
I liked Friendly Chemistry on Facebook.
My lack of knowledge and comfort level of the subject are the issues I deal with most in teaching science. Is it possible to ENJOY science. That’s what I yearn for.

I have been wondering what we are going to do for chemistry – I only remember it as “unfriendly” and I’m hoping my children aren’t left with the same impression!
I hate asemblying all the supplies.
I liked Friendly Chemistry on Facebook, too!
I would love to win this for my high school kiddo. I hate trying to to science and it doesn’t make any sense with the direction and what they want you to do.

We’d love to win this 🙂 Science is often neglected when it’s one of the most exciting subjects. 🙂
I would love to add this to our curriculum
I would like to win this set! It looks like it will make teaching Chemistry easier for me, and learning Chemistry more enjoyable for my children.
I would like to try this.
Hmmm, I don’t tweet or blog ar facebook, so I’d better make this one entry a good one…
I really like the ‘Friendly’ title of this material. I’m just starting homeschooling in September, and what will no doubt frustrate me more than anything is just how little chemistry I can remember from school. Sadly I remember the tyrannical teacher very well indeed, just nothing of what is undoubtedly a fascinating subject. On the up side, this means I’m about to have a lot of fun finding out! Many thanks
Would love to win, but will be happy for whomever does 🙂

I get frustrated because sometimes I am not as “clear” on my knowledge as I should be. And that makes it harder for me to teach it.
I’d love to win this Friendly Chemistry set. As far as science goes, I’m frustrated with having to stop and learn for myself, before I’m able to continue and teach. I’ve always loved science, but it seems that I hit an obstacle here and there that slows down our progress. Thanks for the chance to win.
I’d LOVE to win this giveaway. I have 2 sons who would benefit from this. I also belong to a homeschool co-op where I could use this to teach a chemistry class.

What is frustrating about teaching chemistry/science is the whole ‘fear factor”. Will we mess this up and the outcome will be bad? Do we have the right “stuff” to do the experiment? And why are we doing it? If these problems can be solved, science and chemistry will be fun, fun, fun! =))
Too many science curriculums forget to include enough hands-on learning activities and labs. This sounds like great fun. I would love to win. Thanks.

This sounds like a great way to teach Chemistry, the one true subject I’ve been dreading teaching. From looking over the material the experiments are carried out with everyday on hand materials, which makes this course so much easier. I would love to win this package!
My daughter is so far out with science I don’t know what to teach her any more.
This looks wonderful. I love a science curriculum that is easy to teach.

I would love to win this giveaway. Chemistry is always a tough subject because I have a hard time thinking of real life lessons.
I am new to homeschooling this year and the thought of teaching Chemistry is daunting! Anything to help make the process more understandable and enjoyable for me and my son would be amazing!
I like this on Facebook!
Would love to win this.
I am frustrated that I don’t have the science equipment – (test tubes, beakers, etc.) to perform many cool experiments with my kids. Thanks for the chance to win!
What frustrates me about teaching science is finding a curriculum that is complete with student and teacher books, review questions, tests along with engaging hands-on lab activities that apply the text learning in intereting, fun and easy to do at home experiments. Most of the learning and rembering occurs in the hands of the child when they connect the material to real life. I would love to win Friendly Chemistry to use in our homeschool. Thank you for this opportunity.
I would really like to win this giveaway. My son is autistic and science is one of his fascinations. This would be an awesome blessing for our home.

I’d love to win this chemistry set!
I am not science oriented by any means! My two older suffered from my not being able to teach them as well as they needed. If they didn’t understand a concept, well, I couldn’t explain either. My middle daughter loves science and wants to be a veternarian. I could really use this to give her the science background she needs to follow her dream!

I confess I would love to win this Friendly Chemistry curriculum so I do not embarrass myself another further in front of my two teenage daughters. Science is not my strong point in our homeschooling adventure.

I would LOVE a Chemistry program that makes science fun and interesting not dry and boring! This looks as if it delves in-depth and makes you (the teacher) WANT to learn more…just like your students!
I still don’t know how I passed Chemistry in high school and steered clear of it in College. I know I am going to have to teach it to my kids soon so I would love to look at this curriculum.
I want to win this Friendly Chemistry giveaway, it sounds great way to learn about chemistry!
Count me in, and thanks for the opportunity!
I posted about this give-away for entry number two. But hmmm, I don’t see entry number one up there anywhere. I might be back to post number one again. 🙂

Oh there it is! Thank you!
My biggest problem with science and especially the experiment part is finding the time. And since this area is more of a weakness in my skills, it is easy to leave behind. This give away would help. Thank you for the possibilities.
Currently trudging through high school chemistry with my senior
We would love to win this Chemistry set!! I think this would be perfect for our daughter to use in our homeschool…she’s not “in love” with the current books we have used. Jeannie

What frustrates me most about teaching science is the lack of resources at home. I have yet to find a really great science curriculum that is simple but challenging enough to hold my children’s interest. Our oldest started high school this year and when we get to chemistry, I would love to have a curriculum that is easy for me to understand and teach but challenges him, too. I haven’t found one that is truly affordable or that meets those specifications yet.
