Giveaway: $20 Gift Certificate & Free Shipping from TruthQuest History (closed)

giveaways

13 Aug
TruthQuest History, today's giveaway sponsor, would like to offer one of you a $20 gift certificate and free shipping (in the U.S.) toward any of their history guides.

a review of Truthquest history

TruthQuest History "helps students gradually probe/discover the spiritual truths paraded before them through the colorful lessons of history (including government, art, literature, economics, etc.). The focus is on God as Initiator, not humans. TruthQuest History is distinctive in its deep spiritual focus and its broad survey of each culture's spiritual foundation in action."

Visit the TruthQuest History site to read articles, reviews, and samples of their history guides. There are ten TruthQuest History guides to choose from, priced from $24.95-$34.95.
I wrote the following in April 2009 after TruthQuest History mailed me their Middle Ages book for review:

TruthQuest History is a literature-based and faith-based history program that I'll keep to use in our homeschool. I'm not somebody who likes texbook curriculum. Although I know that method appeals to many others, it simply goes against my personality and style of education. If you're a textbook teacher, you may not like TruthQuest History as I do, but if you're a Charlotte Mason gal, someone who is inspired by For the Children's Sake, or if you think a good book can teach much more than a paragraph of history in a textbook, you'll probably enjoy TruthQuest History as I do.

TruthQuest History fits in well with my style. The author writes commentary, in a casual style, for each "era," but she does not suggest questions or try to "tell" the student what he/she should be learning. Instead, the child absorbs through reading the quality literature.

TruthQuest History has several suggested reading lists within each guide. You may not find, nor will you need to read, all of the books suggested. It is perfectly fine, even encouraged, for you to find your own books to add to the study. (that's another reason I enjoy TruthQuest History– I love my freedom to change things up a bit!).

The bottom line? This is a curriculum I recommend for all but the most textbook-loving homeschool teacher and those who like to be told exactly what to teach.
