Today is our last day of the Freely Educate's First Annual Giveaway Week! For today's giveaway, we're bringing back a favorite…
All About Spelling isn't a – yawn! – workbook method of learning spelling. Instead, All About Spelling is a hand-on spelling program that will interest every kid in your bunch, as it has ours…
Our family receives all sorts of educational products to possibly review for Freely Educate, and while we only post reviews of products that we think are good, we don't always keep the products to use in our own little school. All About Spelling, however, definitely will be staying at home in our schoolroom. It is solving our problem of poor spellers (they are so very phonetic!) while making the effort as painless as possible for the teacher (me).
"All About Spelling is your clear action plan for teaching spelling. Designed for effective, stress free teaching, the series progresses in a logical, sequential order. Through direct instruction, students learn exactly what they need to know in order to spell well.
The All About Spelling program brings together three pathways to learning – auditory (hearing), visual (seeing), and kinesthetic (touching). This multisensory approach, combined with a built-in review system and reinforcement activities, ensures that students retain what they learn and understand how to apply it in practical situations."
Go to the All About Spelling site to learn more about the program and to order a free report called, "The 20 Best Tips for Teaching Spelling."
We want to give away a set of All About Spelling's Level One to one of you.
The winner's package will include:
- AAS Level One set (book and student Material Packet)
- Letter Tiles
- Phonogram Audio CD-ROM
All of that will be sent to one of you, shipped free, of course! (value: $56.90 and free s/h)
2009 Note: Since we are just now starting out with All About Spelling, we started even our big 13yo 7th grader in Level One. He's whizzing through it, as he should, but the reinforcement of the basics is good for him as well as for his 11yo, 5th grade sister. Our 8yo (3rd grader) also is doing Level One, at a much slower pace.

My children need All About Spelling.
I really liked the article about kinesthetic learning and incorporating that into spelling! I’m a kinesthetic learner and so is my daughter. I esp. loved the idea of using pudding! What a yummy way to learn how to spell!
I want one.
I’d love a chance at this!!
I really haven’t given spelling much thought (starting 3rd grade). I’d love a spelling package to see how it works for our family. Thank you.
Would love one
I looked at the article list and will read all of them ( I need all the help I can get) The “what works in teaching spelling” and “what doesn’t work” look most useful.
I just checked out the articles at All-About-Spelling, and, for my youngest, think “Tactile Ways to Practice Spelling” will be the most useful. He’s definitely hands-on for everything.
Sounds great! We’d love it!
Just “liked” your Facebook fan page. Thanks again.

I am excited about this program!
I would love one!
I would definitely use it for my hands on Learner
“ll About Spelling is multisensory. The lessons involve sight, sound, and touch. Children learn best when they are physically involved in the learning process, so we take advantage of that fact with this hands-on approach to learning and teaching spelling.”
This would work perfectly for my young one.
This would be a wonderful tool for my children.
Choosing the Correct Spelling Pattern is a helpful article.
I would love to have this to start with my daughter!
The article that is of most interest to me at this point is what works and what doesn’t work in spelling. I am just getting ready to start with my daughter. My son went for his first 2 years in public school, so even though this is our 4th year homeschooling, I’m kind of in unchartered territory. Thanks for the chance to win!!
This looks great! Count me in.
I would love to try this program.

Ever since stumbling on this program awhile back it has been on my to-buy list. I think it looks like an aamzing program and can’t wait to get my hands on it!!! My kids are very early readers, so they don’t always pick up on the “rules”. That’s why I think AAS will be so good for them; they’ll get the rules when they’re old enough to really understand them.
I want one!
Developing Phonemic Awareness looks like the most helpful right now since I’m doing phonics with my son.
I’m a FB Fan!!

Liked on FB 🙂
My kids desperately need a solid program like this! Thank you so much for the opportunity to participate!
My vote for the most helpful article for what we’re facing in our homeschool would be “Five Ways to Handle Misspelled Words”. The tips are simple, straight forward and effective. The tips remind you (and the student) to take time to allow self correction, check pronounciation, separate the sounds, check rules and exceptions, and provide multiple opportunities to practise the word. No, these ideas are not new, however it can sometimes be too easy to forget how powerful these steps are within the learning process. IMHO, simply correcting the problem without implementing these steps only delays the learning process.
Oh! This would be SO useful for my two younger children! Thanks for hosting!
I loved the article about tactile ways to practice spelling. As an occupational therapist, I can tell you that this is a great way to reinforce learning. I have seen it work!
Oh, fun! I want one too! 😀
The article on teaching sight words would be the most helpful to us right now. http://all-about-spelling.com/teaching-sight-words

The article most helpful was What Works When Teaching Spelling. This was very helpful since we are just starting spelling this year. It will help me to evaluate programs.
I would love to win All about Spelling!

Thank you for writing, Karen!
This looks great!
What a good idea.
This looks really neat. I would love one!
I read the article Tactile Ways to Practice Spelling. I found a lot of great ideas here.
The article which applies for us would be the one discussing What Works In Teaching Spelling. I think the BIGGEST thing for us is learning the rules.
We are really in need of the All About Spelling. I have a 3rd grader who struggles with spelling and a 1st grader who is just starting out and I would LOVE to use this with both of them. I have tried other spelling programs with my oldest and nothing seems to work and I really feel that is because none of them has really covered the rules the way this says it does.
Enter me please!
would love one!
I would really appreciate 1……
I loved the article about tactile ways to practice spelling.Being highly visual spatial & kinesthetic myself… I know my 3 children would benefit greatly from this….. this would help cement many of the things we are already doing with trying to overcome their stealth dyslexia……. Spelling & written output is poor…. yet their ideas & creativity shines….. I would be so moved to be able to help bridge that gap… between ability & potential….. for many reason…self-esteem, confidence, love of learning…..
I would love to win this!

I think the article “Phonograms and Spelling Rules” would be helpful

I found the article about dyslexia symptoms to be very interesting, since I have a child with dyslexia and didn’t find out until they were 8. Wish I had read this sooner.

The articles I would be most interested in reading right now are “What Works…” and “What Doesn’t Work in Teaching Spelling”. I’ve tried many things, some successful, some not.

The article I liked most is Tactile Ways to Practice Spelling. My firstborn is a natural speller and a visual learner, but my second-born who struggles with spelling is way more hands-on. These suggestions will be great to try with him!
