The Weather Classroom

science

10 Nov

Weather is on my mind, thanks to a hurricane named Ida who is barrelling down on where our family lives.  Since
I’m thinking about nothing but weather today,  the freebie for today is about, of course, weather!

'Weather Lessons for Kids and Classrooms'

Weather Lessons for Kids is provided by The Weather Channel.  Their Teacher Resources section includes:

  • The Weather Classroom:  Several teacher guides for grades 6-10 and one for grades K-5
  • Sun Safety:  UV exposure and skin cancer topics for grades 3-5
  • Forecast Earth:  The causes and effects of the powerful climate and environmental forces that are changing our planet for grades 6-10
  • WeatherReady:  How to prepare for severe weather for all grades.

If you don’t see new posts this week, please be patient as our power
likely went out.  It takes them quite a while to turn it back on (I can’t fathom why they don’t put the power lines underground here on the Gulf Coast!)

Does anyone know how to be registered as a teacher on the weather in the classroom site? I’ve tried, and it doesn’t even give me that option. I was already registered, so maybe a new registration will give me that option. Anyway, unless you are registered as a teacher, it will not let you have the lesson plans. I’m a homeschool mom, so I feel that classifies me as a teacher.

Freely Educate is written for those, like our family, who don't want the box. There are many places for "box-thinkers" to go. This place is for those who think outside the box. I hope to give you affirmation and advice on bravely choosing to educate creatively and individually. - Lori Seaborg

Our family has been homeschooling for over a decade. I hope to encourage you that there is no obstacle to a beautiful education - you really can do it. And you and the child can both enjoy the journey! - Lori Seaborg, America's Gulf Coast | more About Us
